The department of Physics was established as a full-fledged, self-supporting (academically), under-graduate Program in 1992 offers B.Sc., Physics and in the year 2017 offers M.Sc Physics Program. During an academic year, it caters to the academic needs of more than 170 students majoring in Physics, around 140 students through allied courses. Presently there are 7 teaching faculty and 2 non-teaching faculty, 5 holds Ph.D., degree in physics. All the faculty members of this department are actively involved in teaching, research and development in the following areas: Solid state Physics, Optics & Spectroscopy, Mathematical Physics, Advanced materials science and Nanotechnology. The department has very well equipped laboratories for conducting all its programs. There are 2 laboratories for UG and PG students.
