Enactus is an international organization, which connects the student and business leaders through financial based projects to help and develop society. It is confined in three words – Entrepreneurial, Action, Us. The Enactus program is designed to foster an entrepreneurial approach that encourages creativity and resourcefulness. Enactus teams address a wide variety of issues and rather than mandating a uniform set of projects, teams have the opportunity to work within the Enactus framework while developing projects based on the diverse needs of people in different communities.
Srushti Enactus, the social entrepreneurial wing of Sri Sankara Arts & Science College was started in the college campus in February 2018 with the aim of involving the student community in bringing about a change in the society by putting workable social models to test. The team is guided by Dr.Hema Narayanan, the primary faculty advisor with the support of other faculty advisors Dr.V.Muralidharan, Mr.S.Mohanraj, Mr.E.Manigandan and Mrs.K.Lakshmi

Srushti Enactus rolled out its first Community Project “Community Lab”, the brainchild of our Principal, Dr.K.R.Venkatesan. Through this social Project, young volunteers seek to work collaboratively on societal problems with a view to access the inaccessible and afford the unaffordable.
With the noble intention to quench the educative need of the rural students, an initiative was taken to train the students of Government School in Enathur in the field of communicative English. Community Lab was inaugurated by our Principal, Dr.K.R.Venkatesan on August 2, 2018 in the auditorium of Government High School, Enathur in the presence of the Head master, Dr. Ezhumalai and other senior teachers of the school. Dr. Hema Narayanan, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration and Primary Faculty Advisor to Enactus –Srushti and Dr.V.Muralidharan Assistant Professor, Department of English and Faculty Advisor for this project facilitated the inaugural session.
The inaugural function successfully began with the prayer sung by the girls of the enactus team in the auditorium of Government School, Enathur at 11 am. Ms. Monisha from III BA English welcomed the gathering and our Principal, Dr. K. R. Venkatesan, briefed the perspectives of the programme. The chief guests of the inauguration were Mr. J. Kamesh Kumar, Additional Government Pleader, Public Prosecutor, Kanchipuram and Mr. S. Mouleeswaran, Advocate and Member, Tamilnadu Commission for Protection of Child Rights. In their speech, they shared some of the curricular and extra-curricular activities encouraged by the college with respect to individual and social development and admired the same. Further, they stressed the value and significance of this programme and congratulated the participants, as they were fortunate enough to undergo such training in the right time of their budding stage.
Mr. S. Mouleeswaran gifted and motivated the young Enactus trainers from our college with five copies of a book written by his father entitled, “Easy English” and emphasized the need of English communication for the government school students who are rarely exposed to such training to compete and fetch right jobs in the present competitive world. He commended the efforts of the college in imbibing the sense of social responsibility among the college students. Dr.Hema Narayanan introduced the student volunteers Ms.D.Sivasruthi, Ms. Monisha, Ms.Ashmita and Ms.Lakshanya who will be a part of the Project. Dr.V.Muralidharan briefed the methodology that will be adopted in delivering the contents a inspired the participants for academically rewarding efforts. Finally, Ms. D. Sivasruthi of III BA English proposed the vote of thanks.

The Enactus wing, a social entrepreneurship wing of Sri Sankara Arts and Science College, Kanchipuram, as a part of its second project, had organized an entrepreneurial carnival named ‘Srushti Bazaar’ on 8th and 9th January, 2019. The programme started at 10.00 a.m. on 8th January, 2019. The programme had Dr. B. Gopinath, Managing Director, Varamahalakshmi Silks, Kanchipuram as the Chief guest. Sivasruthi, an Enactus volunteer, delivered the welcome address. Subsequently, Dr. Hema Narayanan, Faculty Advisor, Enactus spoke in detail about the rationale of the event. Then came the inaugural address by Dr. B. Gopinath, the Chief guest of the event. The Principal, Dr. K. R. Venkatesan, then delivered the Presidential address to the crew. Then two of the Volunteers, Monisha and Mukesh, presented a hilarious conversation about the carnival. There were more than 60 stalls in the carnival, through which the participants unleashed their innate talents. Then Dr. Hema Narayanan delivered the vote of thanks, which marked the end of the inaugural function.
In the second day of the bazaar, around 2500 people from the locality and the colleges in Kanchipuram visited the bazaar. Totally around 6500 people visited the bazaar on both the days. In the valedictory session, Principal Dr.K.R.Venkatesan delivered the valedictory address and distributed the certificates and mementos to the participants who hosted the stalls. The participants of the 65 stalls shared their learning experiences and expressed their confidence about becoming an entrepreneur. Many students expressed their gratitude to Dr.Hema Narayanan, Faculty Advisor of Srushti Enactus Team of Sri Sankara Arts & Science College for bringing out the entrepreneur in them.
